John Jeffrey Crooke, Sr, 70, formerly of Long Valley, NJ, passed away at his Lancaster County residence on Wednesday, August 21, 2019. Born in Summit, NJ, he was the son of the late Philip S. Crooke, Jr. and Emma (Kaucky) Crooke.

He shared 48 years of marriage with his wife Paula C. (Lamprecht) Crooke.

Jeff worked as an instrument mechanic for Allied Chemical and then continued there as the company became Honeywell. A 5th generation firefighter, Jeff was a life member of the Long Valley Volunteer Fire Company where he served for 30 years.

Jeff and Paula vacationed in Lancaster County for many years before retiring to the county 15 months ago. He enjoyed volunteering at Rough & Tumble Engineers Museum in Kinzers for 5 years, where he was known as the sausage steamer extraordinaire. He was also an avid collector of kerosene lanterns.

Above all else, Jeff was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.

In addition to his loving wife Paula, Jeff is survived by their three children, John Jeffrey Crooke, Jr., husband of Dolores (Kearns) of King William, VA, Christina Beth, wife of Samuel Hall of Columbia, MD, and Paul Philip Crooke, husband of Ellen (Tappen) of Salt Lake City, UT; five grandchildren, Dylan Michael Hall, Brooklyn Marie Hall, Conor Tappen Crooke, Emily Tappen Crooke and Patrick Tappen Crooke; and his brother, Philip S. Crooke, III, husband of Barbara of Nashville, TN.

A viewing will take place from 12 to 1 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1 PM with The Rev. Mark J. Thiboldeaux officiating, Monday, August 26, 2019, at the Bachman Snyder Funeral Home & Crematory, 7 South Decatur Street, Strasburg, PA 17579. Interment in Zeltenreich U.C.C. Cemetery, New Holland, PA.
