Ralph ArmentRalph M. Arment, age 90, of Landis Homes, formerly of Leola, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Ephrata Community Hospital. Born in Leacock Twp., he was the son of the late Ralph and Lizzie (Martin) Arment. Ralph and his loving wife, Dorothy (Newswanger) Arment celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Christmas Eve, 2008.

Ralph retired in from the Leola Water Department at the age of 70 after 52 years.
He was a member of Christian Fellowship Church where he served as Deacon and on the Building Committee. He also was a member of the Leola Fire Company, the Leola Ambulance Association, sang in the Gap Male Chorus and enjoyed woodworking.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Elvin married to Dorothea (Loeffler) Arment, Ephrata and Mary Jane married to Billy Ray Meyer, Ephrata; five grandchildren: Scott Arment, Angela Henderson, Brett Meyer, Bobby Arment, and Tiffany Arment; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son Glenn Arment in 2008 and four siblings: Martin, Isaac, Barbara Stoltzfus, and Anna Zeiset. Ralph was from a large family of 12. Surviving are his sisters Edith Bowman, Landis Homes and Ida Stoltzfus Summers, Fairmount Homes; half-brothers and sisters: Amos, Jay, Leon, Lavina, and Janet.

His funeral was held on Monday, February 16 at 11 AM at Christian Fellowship Church, 758 Spruce Rd., New Holland. Interment was in the adjoining church cemetery. Ralph and his wife were volunteers at the R&T kitchen for years. They also put nice displays of kitchen tools as well as agriculture related tools and equipment.
