3/27/2021 Work continues on the engine.

Attached is a photo by Art Driedger of the newly assembled
lubricating oil pump for the Harrisburg. We will only be turning
the engine generator at 15 to 20 RPM, so the original oiling system
will not pick-up and splash oil. We came up with this new brass gear
pump and electric motor to supply lubricating oil. We had a great crew of
machinists, fabricators and welders working in our R&T shop to build
the mounting and assemble the " modern " accessory which will be
hidden to keep the originality of the big machine.

Art Driedger and Steve Wrigley finished two heavy saw horses. They will serve as work benches for heavy parts. All the parts of this engine are heavy.

Pete Fisher wire brushed and primered most of the connecting rod. Some parts are not accessible now. We will get it up on cribbing to finish this and apply some enamel, next work day.

Art Driedger, Matthew Hoover and Jeff Bender cleaned and scrubbed in the crankcase, polishing some light rust from journals and slides.

Jeff and Art also got the piston, rod and crosshead moving. This is the first that moved since 1982. Thick, waxy grease is still protecting some parts since then.

Jim cleaned some main bearing blocks. He was the last one to run this engine on steam at Masonic Homes in Elizabethtown in October 1982.

We talked with the others, considering a central exhaust system coordinating with the new lower level steam engines to be set up.

We are planning on another work day, June 1, 2019

We will be devising a lifting plan to get the crankshaft, flywheel and generator rotor up so the journals and bearings can be cleaned.
